You can choose to forgive, whatever the circumstances, because ultimately forgiveness is not for others, it is for you. It frees up your energy and allows you to move on and increase your sense of life satisfaction.
In that moment, in that instant, something happened. Something small and seemingly insignificant, but had the potential to change everything in a big way. Something that was hard to put your finger on and couldn’t be explained or fully understood. Something like thinking that there’s nothing left, but then being given another chance. Something like being left in the dark, but somehow finding the light. Something like finally having all the questions answered. Something like giving up, but given another chance to hope again. Something like cutting the thread that held it all together, but also stitching it back up again. Something like turning around to go back, but finally moving forward. Something like starting over.
“It’s a lie, you know, to pretend that nothing is important to you. It’s hiding. Believe me, I know because I hid for a long time. But now I won’t do it anymore. The truth is bioluminescent. I don’t lie, and I don’t waste time on people who do.”—(via her0inchic)
“A healthy relationship keeps the doors & windows wide open.
Plenty of air is circulating & no one feels trapped.
Relationships thrive in this environment.
Keep your doors & windows open.
If this person is meant to be in your life,
all the open doors
& windows in the world will not make them leave.
Trust that truth.”—(via her0inchic)
Summer: You don’t believe that a woman could enjoy being free and independent?
McKenzie: Are you a lesbian?
Summer: No, I’m not a lesbian. I just don’t feel comfortable being anyone’s girlfriend. I don’t actually feel comfortable being anyone’s anything, you know.
McKenzie: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Summer: Really? Okay. Let me break it down for you. Okay. I like being on my own. Relationships are messy, and people’s feelings get hurt. Who needs it? We’re young. We live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Might as well have fun while we can and… save the serious stuff for later.
McKenzie: Holy shit. You’re a dude. She’s a dude.
Tom: Okay. But wait, wait. What happens if you fall in love?
Summer: What? Well, you don’t believe that, do you?
Tom: It’s love. It’s not Santa Claus.
Summer: Well, what does that word even mean? I’ve been in relationships, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. And most marriages end in divorce these days. Like my parents.
Tom: Okay. Mine too, but…
Summer: There’s no such thing as love. It’s a fantasy.
Tom: Well, I think you’re wrong.
Summer: Okay. Well, what is it that I’m missing then?
When you can be the bestest friends, & you don’t have to talk, & see each other everyday. Those people who you can depend on & never left your side. I love having someone who is always there for me even when it’s hard to keep in touch. It’s nice having someone you can vent to and be yourself.
“The important thing is not to be bitter over life’s disappointments. Learn to let go of the past, and recognize that every day won’t be sunny. And when you find yourself lost in the darkness of despair, remember, it’s only in the black of night that you see the stars, and those stars lead you back home.”—Coach Whitey Durham, One Tree Hill (via princessboco)
People who struggle often fight over little things. We obsess over things that don’t really matter. We create resistance instead of letting things glide off us. Let the little things go, breathe, and move on to the important things.
